GARVEY "HARD HAT AREA" VOL. 1
Garvey "The Chosen One" and his producer Rico Anderson of Triple Team Entertainment threw a
party to celebrate the release of Garvey's new CD Hard Hat Area Volume 1. This wasn't your average listening
party - it had tattoo artists, ice sculptures, a model call, an open bar, and DJ Flexx from WPGC kept the dance floor packed
all night. Hard Hat Area is a CD filled with quality songs from start to finish. Rico provides the sonic landscapes
and Garvey holds it down lyrically track after track. You can pick up Hard Hat Area at a Downtown Locker Room
(DTLR) location near you.
THE "ALMOST FAMOUS" OPEN MIC
Each and every Tuesday night Dre "All Day In The Paint" presents the "Almost Famous"
open mic. This event, which is held at Roses Dream (1370 H Street, NE), gives DMV rappers the opportunity to network
with other artists, media, and music industry representatives.
Den Den of BBU Enterprises and Dre "All
Day In The Paint" teamed up to create one of the biggest industry shows of the year. This event, which was
dubbed "16 Bars From Greatness", featured performances by Bossman (one of B-More's best rappers), Whitefolkz (just
signed with Sony Music), Eezy Money, Gerreddi, and Luegar. In attendance were representatives from Grand Hustle Records,
who were in the building checking out the DMV talent.
THE OY BOYZ &
UCB IN OCEAN CITY
The DMV invaded Ocean City with full force. The Go-Go band UCB, fresh off of their
MTV Awards appearance, and rap heavyweights the Oy Boyz, performed live at Castaways (64th Street on the Bay). UCB started
the night off playing before a packed house (big ups to everyone that came down from DC, and also to the folks from UM
Eastern Shore). After the first set the Oy Boyz hit the stage to perform several hits from their new CD. Then UCB
returned accompanied by the incredible vocals of Ms. Kim (from Rare Essence). Their version of "Run This Town" was
crazy, then they shut it down with the classics "Pieces of Me" and "Sexy Lady". It was a totally drama-free
night - shouts out to Envious Couture and Suni for putting together a great event.
THE BIG B ALBUM RELEASE COOKOUT
Big B and Den Den (The Boss) had a celebration to announce Big B's latest album The Southside
of Maryland. The event featured a car wash and free food. The entertainment was provided by Relentlezz Dre, several artists
from the BBU family, and of course Big B himself. The new album is available for download on iTunes, Amazon.com, and Napster.
